Astra G Door Check Straps

The small golden coloured arms between the hinges is what im talking about, and boy are they noisey when I open either doors.

Has anyone managed to fix or at least, make them less noisey. A little embarassing tbh when opening the door!

ive smothered them in grease but i think theyve actually got louder lol!

there are from memory some plastic bushes in the hinge side of the check strap,they wear casuing the knocking you are getting,the bushes are pence from vauxhall

I have replace them on a vectra so would assume they can also be replaced on astra's and they weren't that expensive iirc

most common fault is that the actual bolts what hold them in the door have worked loose causing them to "clack" when opened/closed check these first it will take seconds just open the door and take a look

Checked the bolts, all tight. So removed the check strap and it looks well worn. The roller bearings are moving around on their axles! Hope they ain't too dear to buy
