Replace tension bolt

Hi Guys

I need a new chain kit on one of my zafira's as it is loose as the tension bolt is stuffed. I want to change the bolt so i can drive the car to the Garage for a full chain kit service..

My question is can i just remove the old Z22SE bolt and replace it with Z20NET Bolt?? or is there a set of steps i need to do?

Personally I wouldn't even turn it over without checking all the timing marks line up and to check this you're half way to changing the chain anyway.
Best bet is to get it towed to the menders as it is :wink:

the car is running fine at the moment it just has that diesel rattle about it until oil gets into the tension bolt. I an getting a full replacement kit just wanted to replace the tension bolt to the upgrade before i take it to the mechanic.

So i still want to know can i simply undo the old style one and bolt in the new one? or is there something else i need to do?

You can't do that, the old Z22se is flat on the head, and the placement on the chain guide is also flat.
The Z20net tensioner has a profil that will fit the new chain guides.

My problem is the same.
On my engine, there is the Z22SE tensioner respective chain guide installed so far.
The engine head is damaged due to this tensioner failure.
Now I need to install the Z20NET type reliable tensioner but probably this almost quite new chain guide should be thrown out and replaced by the Z20NET tensioner matched guide.
Here is the Z22SE tensioner respective guide photo showing its profile intended for the tensioner head profile shape action.

Would it be possible for you (or someone else) to present here a photo showing the same for the Z20NET respective chain guide?

The new chainkits sold today, will fit the Z20net tensioner.
All guides must be renewed or they can brake in time..
A new chain kit comes with all you need, guides and chain and the Z20net tensioner.

as above, the latest chain kits can use the z20net tensioner, it's the early ones with a flat profile which cannot have a later tensioner or z20net tensioner fitted
