My Astra SRI

On the 28th of September 2011 a lorry was seen to reverse into my car, and a work colleagues whilst parked at work. After much investigation work by myself and the harbour police, and much faffin about by the MD of the company....EVENTUALLY I got the car sorted, Got it back from WJ Blairs on saturday, so i make that just over 6 months from the incident!!

Heres the damage to the car, required a new bumper, bonnet and 2 headlights.

Few bits and pieces done as well; rear wiper removed, new 82degree "cool running" thermostat, Coolant Temp Sensor, front lambda and the dreaded timing chains. Had my sub in a long time but there was no picture - so fired that in too. Custom box built to JL's exact specs, with the box being screwed to the false floor.

Just gave her a quick run over with AG SRP on a Chemical Guys Hexlogic Yellow pad and some Collinite 476S.
Running like a wee bird now, scrubs up ok for a 12 year old black car imo!

Also, what do you think to the hexlogic pads? I need some new ones, and these are ones I've been looking at.

Super, probably some of the best I've used thus far. I used this one on a DA and was impressed, even with just SRP, the marks it was able to deal with.

Id rate them better than the sonus pads i had used for a several years prior

That's good to hear, as the ones I've got at the minute are the sonus ones.

Looks great, very good condition, with spring in the air i may get some new pad to replace the sonus and the LC pads i have.

First pads i used where LC's MANY moons ago. Like them in terms of finish achieved but they didnt seem to last.
Sonus for me are a good compromise, last for AGES if you look after them (infact, i still have one on the go 6 years later)
Tried Menzerna pads, whilst i love their polish, the pads where rubbish. Both i tried fell apart after using the DA on a Honda Accord Type R.

Spax 60/40 springs fitted - car's stance is so much better, arch gap at the front closed up nicely. Next on the cards....wheels!!

Now that looks ace! Really sits nice on those springs.

Thanks - handles suprisingly well too, very comfortable springs for being 60 at the front.

The cars still on its original shocks 12 years later - doubt they'll last as long with the 60's!
Upgrade the shocks to bilstein b8's is on the cars too!

not really Matt, they were second hand springs so they'd already settled before i got them!

i got some refurb vectra ph2 gsi alloys in my shed waiting to go on 🙂

my astra is sapphire black - amazed at how weell these black astras polish up then quickly get filthy again - must admit silver was nice colour to not worry about dirt

All black cars are the same, a good coat of decent wax does wonders though!

Love those wheels, considering them myself. Be good too see them on yours!

Theres a first time for everything, changed the timing and balance chains today.

Took me 5hrs and all went very smoothly!! Much easier to do than i thought it would be, stripping everything down/building back up is where all the time went!
