Final piece of the ICE Jigsaw!

I dropped the car off at Car Electronics in Leicester yesterday to have the Sub installed.

This is the part I didn't want to do myself. It would have been easy to install an off the shelf sub box, but this is not the direction I wanted to go. I wanted a permanently installed 8" sub to be part of the car.

So Car Electronics suggested an 8" JL Audio sub, in a fully sealed box looking through the ski hatch into the car. The box itself is all resin lined inside to make it air tight.

The result is just fantastc. The level of bass is excellent without being too Boom Boom Boy!!!

There is not one slight bit of vibration from the body trim etc, and feels really tight! To say I am pleased in an understatement!

I am making a cover for this which should finish it off.

Here is what is in the boot. The size was worked out to exactly suit the 8" sub.

All that is left to do is to carpet trim the box. The nice thing is that when you stand behind the car with the boot open, you can't see the box.

Nope, because it's a rag top, the 'bay' where the folded roof sits is fixed. It's not like the twin top where the boot space changes whether the roof is up or down. The Boot in the Astra G is the same and nothing changes.

That looks great, if anyone sat in the middle though it may make them feel sick if you had the HU on :lol:

coupe are only 4 seater, the sub install looks really neat :thumbup:

Excellent! I know some dont have fixed spaces and you have to allow for it. My boss has that trouble on his M3.

ive a JL 10W0 to go into mine, had it installed in my golf in a box in the wheel well. awesome subs!

I would not put a 12" in the same place, it won't fit. You will have quite a bit of the sub feeding directly onto the bulhead of the car.
