Rough Idle after Reset

Hi Guys

I just purchased another Zafira with a Z22SE Motor. Not long after purchasing it the engine light came on. The guy who sold it to me checked it and said that it had no error codes??. So i decided to reset the computer by disconnection the battery and pressing the horn for 30sec. This worked in getting rid of the light HOWEVER not i can't get the car to idle at all??

I have just driven the car 1400KLM today on the long trip home and all seems ok except the idle. The car was idling fine before i rest the computer.

Can someone please help me out in what i have done wrong and how to fix it??

Im totally new to this what is a EGR Valve?

Ok i figures out what the EGR valve is so i went and unplugged it. I then started the car with it unplugged but it still did the same rough idle???

Unplugging the egr won't sort it out if it is the problem. Could try taking the egr off and giving it a good clean with carb cleaner, that might help if it's gunged up. Or better still look in the shop area on this site and get yourself a blanking plate and egr cheater. Once those are fitted you can be sure the egr is sorted once and for all.

The other thing worth doing is to clean the throttle body.

When you disconnect the battery & resetting the ECU you also wipe o2 map etc. You may find that it takes a good 10 medium drives to re-learn all the correct mixture settings again.

Also clean your throttle body as above :thumbup:
