Hi guys i have been a member for a while now and just been keeping an eye on posts etc however i am now having issues that i would like to draw on some expertise for.
Firstly the flexi joint on our vectra b 2.2 SRI estate was shot but we had no engine management light just a seriously loud car. I welded in a new section of flexi rather than shell out on a new cat etc. However since i have put her all back together firstly we had an eml but the car was running smooth, then to my joy the light turned itself off (im in the process of getting a code reader so dont know the code as yet). This is where it all went wrong, since the eml turned itself off its been running rough, the throttle raises 500 rpm when you let release the throttle then drops down on gear change, im only getting 15mpg average which with todays fuel prices is costing a fortune. Also sometimes but not all the time when releasing the throttle it feels as if someone has just dapped the brakes then its fine again i first noticed it on gear changing but it also happened today just taking my foot off the throttle.
I was thinking i may have managed to knacker the front lambda senser as i didnt remove them i just unpluged them when i removed the front pipe for welding??? any way of check it without a code reader? but i also thought if it was playing up the eml would stay on?
I have an egr cheater and the egr valve is unplugged and blanked although could it be an air leak on the egr blanking? but then i would of thought it wouldnt have driven nicely in the first place with the eml on?
also best mention the manifold is quite badly cracked in the middle of the four exhaust pipes and i am in the process of finding another one .
Any help with this before i start shelling out on lambda sensors would be greatly appreciated
