Another quick question on my 04 Vectra Design with the 2.2 direct engine. Had a funny noise like something metal with some play that could be heard when going over speed bumps or anything that many the car go up and down. looking at the previous owners MOTs it had a notice for a cracked and loose heat shield so i have assumed it is this and didn't worry about it. The noise was defo coming from underneath the car frontish middle kind of area.
about 2 weeks ago the noise suddenly stopped, and i'm pretty sure it due to this part finally giving up and lying somewhere on some random road, 🙂 (though i wouldn't know what i'm looking for so couldn't confirm anything on the car itself)
The MOT is due in May so was just going to wait till then to get one checked/fitted, will it be safe till then. Googling heat shield comes up with a range of different answers to what it actually does so thought i'd just check with you lot. 😃
so far there is no change in how the car is behaving. (and to be honest, not having that noise now is kind of a relief, it was doin my head in :lol: )
