2.2 rattle

for the last few weeks i was getting a kind o rattle noise on start up which was getting me thinking o the chain might be needing done the car was in getting a service at start o the week and told them about it but thay could not hear anything but sinse its service iv not heard it making the noise so could the oil change have helped things or not

is thair an easy way to check the tappets or chain or will it need to go to the garage to get looked at

Usualt trick is to use a mechanic's stethoscope on the relevant bits to check where the noise is coming from.

Or if you're a cheapskate like me you use a big screwdriver instead. Bit of an issue with the way 2.2s kick on startup if you've got a dirty great big screwdriver stuck down your earhole - so be a bit careful.
