Quick answer is yes you can use it.
What's the difference? - I'm no expert. Have a look at the information posted by Oilman who represents Opie Oils, either on here on on VVOC website. My understanding is that 0W-40 is going to be thinner than 5W-40 when cold, so will circulate quicker.
There's mixed opinions re. semi-synthetic vs fully synthetic. I had two X20XEV engines I ran solely on Mobil One, which is fully synth. 0W-40. Neither made it past 75k without series wear problems, even with 5k oil and filter changes. My Z22SE I've kept on semi-synth, either 10W-40 or 5W-30, and it's done 94k and sounds excellent. It uses very little oil and is still giving the same mpg as when it was new. Again, it gets new oil & filter every 5k.
That's just personal experience and preference. Others will have different experiences and opinions.
