My bank have already confirmed that they are refunding me the money. New card will be here in the next couple of days, and they are also sending me out a declaration form to sign just saying it's not me who made the payments.

sounds like a member of staff is copying card numbers / expiry dates and 3 digit security codes

as the fraudulent transactions are in a similar retail sector then you dont need to a brain surgeon to realise who is doing this
i was getting o2 top ups off my card a few years back as o2 allow top ups with other peoples card's
good thing is everyone is turning to online banking so fraud detection is becoming more efficient
To be honest Mike, I think it's more likely they have been hacked. It looks like they are storing full card numbers with address details, as there is no mention on their website about 3rd party card processors. They also perform the O2 transactions to check if the card is live, making small top ups because it's to an unregistered prepay mobile phone, which O2 cannot trace. If they get a positive hit, they then go shopping big time on them. Luckily mine has been cancelled quickly, and the bank have confirmed any outstanding transactions against the account.
