Remus non silenced centre mated to irmscher split oval rear

Hello,

Looking to improve the dissapointing performance of my astra 2.2 sri, considering the remus centre to fit with my irmscher silencer.

If you have the above combination are you pleased with it?
Did you notice any improvement in performance?

Does it drone on long journeys?
What does it sound like? noisy, boomy, raspy or boy racer like?
Did it fit well?

I have no pre cat on my car as I found out today, genuine vaux downpipe that has never been off the car since new.

I did notice whilst trying to fix a leak slip joint cat/centre that the 3 foot long 🙂 centre silencer has a quite a serious reduction in pipe diameter within the box itself, looked up it with a torch. Surely with a fair size engine this cant be helping performance at all?

Car is also really quiet, even without the pre cat all the noise I get is intake/induction cant even notice car has a sports silencer fitted.

Any opinions on remus centre welcomed

hi and first of welcome to the site 😃

i have it fitted and very pleased i did.
i would say there is a small improvement to the performance
it sound s very nice im in the same bout as you are,i like a noise but nothing to loud and this pipe does the job.
as for fitting it just a replacement pipe and fits very easy.

all in all very happy with it 😃

I've got the remus centre with a remus rear box and a 200 cell sports cat, with the pre cat removed. I was shocked at how qiuet the whole system is. YOu can drive it at 90 on the motorway for hours and the noise is not obtrusive. It is just a gentle rumble, you know its there but its quiet. Spot on perfection if you ask me, I don't want to be heard three streets away !!

Remus make the Irmy back box anyway so the fitment should be ideal.

Got my centre pipe fitted, and the car seems to pull better 🙂 but i think it's too noisy for me, hardly noticable at low revs but at aprox 3200 rpm under load it really does make some noise then on overrun at the same revs. Will have another check to see if its touching the body of the car somewhere but don't think it is

Like the performance increase but noise may be too much. Really deep noise. might have to get a custom exhaust place to slip in a small silencer or something.

Do you have just the Remus middle section and the Irmscher rear pipe just fitted? I am looking into getting the middle section for my car soon 🙂

I found even with the standard factory system that the exhaust noise increased under load over 3000rpm. If you want the performance you will have to live with the increase in noise, if you put a silencer in it, it is kind of defeating the object of fitting the straight through pipe in the first place ..............

I know what you're getting at but if you look up the standard centre pipe with a torch you will see its more than just a silencer, in mine there is a severe reduction in bore size due to some sort of restrictor about half way down the silencer hence the change to the remus.

No pre cat, just centre and backbox. It's not really noisy, i'm just trying to keep it quiet as possible as my old car was noisy and it get's to me after a while. Especially on a long run.
