Portable hard drive not working

Well the nightmare has happened.

Plugged my daily portable drive in today and nothing, lights on but no one in.

Checked the disk managment nothing. Harddrive not clicking but didnt feel like it was booting up.

Tried it on another box, same.

Dismantled it and hardwired into a PC, Bios see's it but can tell what size the drive is, let the pc boot into windows and the drive feels like it firing up ok but no sign in diskmangment etc.

Issue is as with everyone, with it been my daily drive i have lost all my current ISO's and data, i will have a bulk of stuff on other drives but not everything, What a nightmare.

I have another caddy at home to try other than that i may try the freezer trick dunno..

Anyone got any other ideas.

You should be able to feel/hear a quiet spin up. I remember once when i damaged a PCB on one my old drives. I got hold of another drive with exactly the same specs (model.no etc), transferred the PCB and used a piece of software to scan the hdd to recover the data. it took hours but it worked.

Other than that get a hammer and vent some anger at it!

The drive spins when powered direct to pc no clicking etc.

so maybe a pcb board may work dunno..

The Hardrive is a WD3200BEVT

Western Digital, SATA 2.5" drive.
