Mark_Dj What an ok fault code reader to buy? I want one that will clear codes and maybe do other stuff like activate cruise control. I should have had one ages ago. I think it will also have to be a hand held one and full cambus as I don't have a lap top computer. Cheers
astra22bertoneauto Hiya Mark, I bought an OP-COM device off ebay for £20. Links into the laptop and you can do lots of tests with it including program new keys to your car etc. For £20 it was definately worth it. Link below from ebay. this is £30 but still worth it! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/OP-COM-V-CAN-OBD2 ... 1c19f7e19b
Mark_Dj Do i still need a lap top for it? I could always buy a long lead to run it from the house to the car on the drive lol
dodger yes you would need a laptop or a bloody long lead, not sure if you could buy on long enough to be honest
delgado900 Long USB lead might not work as it might be too long and not be able to take it , had this with a VGA once , but I assume it would be the same .
Matt Mark, I'd not bother with opcom if you want to activate cruise control. Just pay someone £20 do it it right. To active it, you are writing settings to the ECU......which if you get something wrong, can brick it.
