Scratched Car

Went out to the Clio today and saw two deep scratches down the bottom of the drivers side two around three and two inches in length :evil: It looks like it has been key'd but why any one would key a car there i have no idea.

I went to a dealership today and picked up touchup pen kit for £10 and will try and do a touchup and sand see how it looks can not really justify spending £200 on bodyshop job.

Will get some photos up later.

Really don't know why we can't have nice cars without them being vandalised. Hopefully the touch up will mask it well enough and protect what's underneath. I wonder how many of these people who do this own cars themselves; how would they react if it happened to them!

As i say it may not have been key'd it just looks like it has, It deff isnt another car as it is a perfect scratch like sharp object has done it maybe a shopping trolley dunno..

Nasty! I wouldn't say thats been done from a shopping trolley because the heights are different for the 2 scratches. notsure.gif
I wouldnt say its been keyed either, you wouldnt do it there tbh and you wouldnt stop leave a gap like that then start again dunno..

Maybe this has been done whilst reversing out of a drive and clipping a wall?

I really dont know what has caused it, the paint has splintered i would have thought if it was a wall then you would get deep scratches other markings, i am sure i would have known if i touched a wall.

Anyway its done now so will get photos up when i have done my DIY repair on it.

Quite true mate, i guess you would have known if you'd clippd a wall. i just hope you get it looking mint again :thumbup:

Well i started on it today and i can confirm that my 35 mile round trip to the stealers was a waste of time for the £10 genuine touch up paint. it is toss :cry: doesnt even look like black the colouyr match is schocking to say the least! not like vauxhall touch up paint and is thin as water, prep'd surface did one coat let dry for 2 hrs came back to it and it still wet the bit that did dry just wiped off. It was as good as using water paints.

Back to the drawing board what a waste of time and money so far!

probably have to respray the whole side of the car to get it to match up

The Arden Blue touch up kit I bought from Halfords is a really good match on mine. Might be worth a shot?

Before i go to body shop i wil source another paint supplier.

Matt i may try paints 4 u or halfords.

I think you are right mike it will need allot of spraying so it all looks good and matches.

Yeah, the Star Silver kit I bought for my Vectra from them was a spot on colour match. The only thing I didn't like using was the hard tip swabs for the really fine scratches, but they'll be fine looking at the scratches on the clio.

I just got the paint, then went to a hobby shop and got the finest brush for the job

That would have been a lot easier for me as well, didn't think of that!

Well popped round last night to the bodyshop that did my wheels and he has put togeather a FOC touch up pot for the clio, not put any on but it looks black anyway :lol: So i will get a small paint brush and take it from there.
