Gearbox or ECU issues

I have a Vectra C 2.2 Auto and I am getting issues. The ECU light is on most of the time but does not flash. When it is on stays in 5th or 2nd and will not change to other gears. If I put it in semi-automatic it will go through the gears ok.

The Car with a Spanner light is on all the time.

I need to know if this is Gearbox or ECU before I go to the expense or getting a replacement.
