Glad to say that over the past 10 years this one's never missed a beat, so never had to try. Never known anything just keep going so well for so long.

I be you get P1 codes rather the P0? just swap the first 1 for a 0 or vice versa.

If you post the codes up some one will tell you what it is pointing at.

In your case Paul I would also think that its to do with the fact that you have no cat.

A code P0420 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

* Leaded fuel was used where unleaded was called for
* An oxygen sensor is not reading (functioning) properly
* The engine coolant temperature sensor is not working properly
* Damaged or leaking exhaust manifold / catalytic converter / exhaust pipe
* Retarded spark timing
* The oxygen sensors in front and behind the converter are reporting too similar of readings

it could be one of all those things??
why have a code thats gonna cover so many possibilities?

You have no cat. The last on the list would confirm this as a fault as the 2 oxygen sensors will be reporting similar readings as the cat isn't there thus no gases being converted. If the cat was there you would have 2 different readings from the sensors and all would be well.

bearing inmind that i havent had a cat on for years now.could one of the sensors be faulty?

Just reset it, It will be down to the decat.

Just reset it, It will be down to the decat.

i have re set it.and if the light comes on again?

it has only realy started happening recently.
it has always come on once in a while but ive always been able to re set it.
now it comes back on again after about an hours driving
