after doing the head in that getting the guide rail bolt machined and fitting all new gaskets,timing chain kit etc i decided to start the car yesterday,and it started first time,but i had a misfire,just my luck i thought,i checked the plugs and no 2 was slightly wet compared to the others,i tried one of my old plugs and no change,i then did a compression check and no 2 was down compared to the other 3,3 cylinders went 3/4s around the scale where no 2 only went 1/2 way round,i poured some oil down the bore of no 2 and the gauge went off the scale!! i refitted the plugs and the misfire was no longer so the cause was a dry bore,there was a bit of smoke out of the exhaust which hopefully will clear after a bit of a run
