opcom problems!!!

i bought an opcom unit off of ebay a few weeks ago. I've just installed it on my PC & i'm trying to go through the set up procedure as explained on the software cd.

The problem is that as i'm going through the set up procedure the software just closes down by itself then when i try to re-open it from my desktop or start up menu short cuts i get a message saying "missing shortcut"

I even get the little message box that opens up next to the start tab saying "new program installed" but it's nowhere to be found. I just seem to have dead shortcuts & no software!! I've re-installed it several times & I just get the same issue every time!!

anybody got any ideas?

do you know the version that you are running?

yeh it's 090820b v1.39

i initially installed it on my old XP PC but have since tried it on my windows 7 laptop. Both have more than a good enough spec to be able to run opcom etc

Right that sounds like the China clone version off ebay. I have mine working on windows 7 ultimate so it def does work. In your anti-virus software, You need to mark the whole opcom folder to ignore (add to exceptions). In AVG goto tools, advanced settings, resident shield then exclude items. Add the folder with OPCOM and it should work.

Whatever you do DONT try downloading another version of opcom from the web as this will corrupt the black device and render it useless!

the version that i use doesn't need installation. I just click the exe file and it loads up.

Thats right same with mine - just copy folder to desktop or somewhere etc. Still need to tell anti-virus to ignore the folder its in.

Right, tried all the above & it's still not happening!! With my Windows 7 laptop I get a message saying cannot instal USB drivers as they are not digitally signed & my version of winows doesn't allow drivers that aren't digitally signed or something!!

I wonder if it's cos it's Win7 64bit??

I'll have to give it another go on my XP PC

Yeh on my XP PC if the drivers aren't digitally signed then you get the option to continue or cancel!! With my Win7 64bit laptop it just kicks it int touch!!

I'll have a quick google & see what I can find to do with changing settings etc!!

What a Ba****d! Mine is running on win 7 32bit and not had any problems yet........

well after a quick google I found a couple of topics addressing the same problem about Win7 64bit not accepting none digitally signed drivers!!

Basically on start up you have to hit the F2 key then when given option hit F8 to go into advanced settings. In there you can select to disable the digitally signed drivers configuration!! :thumbup:

Done it not had chance to try the opcom again yet! Will prob give it a go over the next couple of days

Could you not run it in compatabillity mode notsure.gif drop it to xp sp3?
