fsteward hi i have just put the einge back in my vectra 2.2 sri 2001 model after it being out of the car for a week due to timing chain change all the timing was set up 100% fine but now it wont start ? geting fuel up but not fireing all it done was ran the battery flat it had no water in it as i just wanted to start it before i carried on would this stop it starting if it had no water in?? also the battery has been of for a week so would this effect in any way?
fsteward could it be that i put the battery back on ,with the car unlocked and tryed starting it strait away ? sould i have locked the doors via the key pad and then unlocked to set the imobiliser ? 🙁
astra22bertoneauto Check for 3 things:- you have compression. no compression = problems! check timing/engine. Take out plugs and sit them ontop of your engine (metal cover) with coil pack connected to them. Get someone to watch for spark as you turn over for 2 secs. No spark = no/bad earth. Check fuel pressure by undoing the black knob on the inlet fuel rail. Push the valve (like a tyre valve) and fuel should shoot out. If you hear air then no fuel/pressure. If you have all three then it should start! Rest is done by sensors/electronics. 😃
