hi all
id like to introduce my self im Adam im new, i have a vectra 2.2 who is very sick at the moment and i was hoping someone could help me.
firstly i bought this car from a friend who has owned it for about 5 years but one day when she was driving hope it started lossing power and the engine started jerking around violently and making this scretching sound which sounded as it was coming from the bottom of the engine. i have brought it home and hoped to fix it for my mum as her car is falling to bits (ford mondeo) and this car has a good body but rubbish engine at the moment.
i have read up this engine is chain driven and has a balancing shaft. and IIRC from my college mechanic days that needs timing up with the crank shaft. i have never worked on one of these engines i have only seen pictures on autodata so im hoping it will be as easy to work like the x20xev engine. what i plan to do is see if the engine is worth saving if not i might just fork out and get another engine. what other models had this engine does any one no?
any way back to possibly fixing it if i want to change the timing chain is this easy? (hopefully it hasn't snapped)
if the balancing shaft has snapped can this course problems with the jerking of the engine would it start??
