Car getting me down

Just been out to look at the car after I washed it yesterday when it was nearly dark and I have loads of fine scratches, swirl marks all over the car, I mean loads! I am falling out of love with my car :cry: . I washed it yesterday as it was dirty but it had been raining and the car was wet, so I gave it a quick wash thinking all the muck on it now will be soft with it being wet. Did I buy the wrong colour, should I never hand wash my car again. I don't even want to be seen in it :thumbdown: . The worst part for me cleaning the car is the roof, I was even thinking of getting the roof carbon fibred so i don't have to wash it dunno.. . The roof and sides of my car are bad 🙁

metallic charcoal black or sommit

i just leave it dirty until i can give it a good polish 🙂

It looks mint when polished but once you wash it again they come back :thumbdown: . The car looks a dog at the moment, clean but scratched to *****

That just needs a good polish Mark (machine polish). Hand polish will fill in the scratches, but a machine polish will remove a small amount of lacquer flatting out the swirls.

There is a method to follow when washing to minimize the risk of inducing more (decent wool wash mit, two buckets etc).

Will that get rid of them? I just feel like my car cleaning skills are none existent, I don't feel like touching it again with a bucket

Bloke at work has the new Clio RS, and he's had his roof done black (it's the dark blue colour car) and looks great. Carbon Fibre wrap would look OK on the roof

I vote for Matt and Si to do a roadtrip to the North and sort it for you Mark. These chaps are wizards with a machine polisher! :thumbup: :buffer :thumbup:

Our Zafira is the same. Sapphire Black and its a right bitch.

Trust me Mark you'll be proud of your motor again after seeing pics of the condition of my car. The previuos owners must've has absolutely no pride at all and the front splitter has had approx 30% of paint removed from it due to stone chips etc.

I have a lad local to me who is decent with his detail work. He is going to do my car when the weather gets better. He has an Arden blue VXR Astra. :buffer . He is coming up to mine this morning just to show me a little sample of what it will look like, and he is doing it for free. I just need to buy a clay bar for the day. I feel a bit better now knowing it should come up ok after some detail work 8) . Like you say black is a twat to keep clean, but it looks great when it's clean. Cheers

as said above a decent wash mitt and 2 bucket method will not stop the scratches but will definately help.

I have a black car too, which is in need of some TLC. I plan to machine polish mine when so good weather arrives

I hope so lol, I don't plan to wash it for a while now since seeing I seen loads of marks last time I washed it.

tity mop it with a fine compound then machine polish then give it a rinse off with clean water , use a new leather then give it 2 coats of wax and then everytime you wash it leather it off and every second wash give it a wax , that way it will keep nice

He gave it a quick going over on one area with the machine polisher, but it then started to rain so the stuff he was using never went on the car well. It will get done soon I hope 🙂
