OK, so I've specc'd this fairly cheap build

Still works out cheaper than buying a specific NAS enclosure.

The only thing I've noticed is that the case comes with a PSU, and it says: *The supplied PSU has no SATA connectors. Can you add them to the PSU?

celeron dual core is woefully slow m8

i oc mine up to 3.2 ghz and it was still slower than a p4 775

But it's only going to be used for NAS, nothing else.

for storage it is more than sufficient

I use an Antec 300 case which has plenty of space for HD and cooling (http://www.antec.com/Believe_it/product.php?id=MTEzMQ==)

is the CPU 64bit so that you could run ZFS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZFS) in the future

Well I've found out yesterday that the 2TB HDD that I bought doesn't work well in RAID, as it's got it's on built in idle setting, and parks the arms after 8 seconds inactivity. You can adjust it though using some WD software.

i had one in a test rig

raped the chip to 3.6 ghz

based on the cache and architecture it is very limited however
