Oil Change

Well it's coming upto my 6 month oil change next month. Now, is it really worth it? I've only done 2k miles since September when I changed it last notsure.gif

IMO if you only do short trips everyday then your oil will go black so i'd say YES 😃

My boss has same issue with his M3. Oil never gets upto temp because he does short trips to work and back and his oil goes black.

Yeah, my oil is already turning black. My car does a 12 mile round trip each day, so it's only just getting warm by the time I get to work/home. Petrol is too expensive to just drive for the sake of it once a week to give it a good blast.

I know how you feel. I do a 40 mile round trip to work and back every day.

Definately get your oil done. Just imagine how black it would be in another 6 months.....

Yeah, I'll be doing it. It's been done every 6 months since I've owned it, but this year is the first one where I won't be going to Cornwall on holiday, as that is a good 6.5 hour run each way, with loads of driving in-between, so my mileage for this year is only going to be _4k

Ive never been to Cornwall, is it nice there. I used to live in Devon for a little while and that was a nice place.

I would also get it changed Matt, I change mine nearly every 6 months although my oil does go black very fast dunno..

The car has only just gone over 29k, and it's a June 2006 car.

We love Cornwall. I've been there every year at least twice a year for the last 8 years. This is going to be the first year with the wife opening her own shop.

Before that, I used to holiday in Devon each year with the parents (Dawlish)

Thats the trouble with being self employed esp when you have just started out, Its very hard to take holidays! Once you build up the customer base and/or have staff you can trust then it will be easier to take a break.

I used to live in Paignton just behind the Zoo. Never went to Dawlish 🙁

Just been out to check the oil level. It's not used a drop in 6 months, and below is the colour of the oil.

Still going to change it though.

i would change it mate just for the same reason others have stated just imagine how bad it will be in abother 6 months.

I agree. Oil will be getting changed middle of March with the same Fuchs Titan Race Pro S 5W-40 Ester Synthetic as before.

As ive recently mentioned ive had my chain replaced and of course the usual servicing at the same time. The oil that i brought along for them to use they never did and left it in the boot of the car and used thier 5w30.

Well.........i kinda forgot it was in there, i also have a shovel in there from the harsh winter we've had. And the reason why my car has been smelling of oil for 3 days was explained as i went to inspect my boot today. :oops: The 2 must have collided when i was driving enthusiastically.

The state of the boot carpet was just beyond recovery :thumbdown:

so i just binned the Fu**er. Im now going to scrappy to nab a new one and have the car professionally valleted to get rid of the disgusting smell. :roll:

I was not amused at the time Mike 🙂
i was busy as a blue arse fly mate and it slowed me right down. I had a load of bags to take to the tip as ive had a clear out ready for us to move house in 2 weeks.

Oops! I had a similar experience in my first car, a MK3 Fiesta. I built a boot build for the sound system, and added an extra battery in there.....which fell on it's side and leaked all over the boot floor!
