found out why my cabby is a non runner

the chain is not an endless one,it has broke,and looking at the state of the oil the reason is lack of servicing,the car has 62k miles on it and the last service in the service book was at 38k miles,i should find out tomorrow if the bottom end is ok as i will be removing the head,and i need a new inlet camshaft as someone left the oil filler cap off and the lobes under that are a bit rusty :evil:

i dont know,i have only got the car and i got it cheap because the car was a non runner

well i can confirm the reason why the chain broke,the front tensioner bolt sheared,and a bonus,not one bent valve,the cams stopped in a position where non of the valves were in an open position cheers..

im happier as the job is going to cost me a lot less than i thought,i have just got to get a inlet camshaft

LOL I wont tell you how many vauxhalls I had in the past with snapped timing belts and managed to get away with just a new belt! 😃

But that is lucky not to have any damage

i will post a pic of the snapped part of the tensioner bolt that is left in the head,i do not know how it got into this position and not damage the guide rail
