new 2.2 problems

this is a question for all 2.2 owners

picked up an sri 150 estate last night and the em light was on.drove fine on the way back from cambridge to norwich(70 miles).

i did notice that when i stopped in cambridge to get fuel that it struggled to start but once started and going was fine.

when sitting at lights and idleling car feels like its hunting.was struggling after work tonight but once warmed up was a bit better but still not right.

i had car on tech 2 tonight after work and it had codes for o2 sensor 2 and egr valve.

has anyone else come across this before? my friend cleared the codes and the em light hasnt come back on.i was thinking along the lines of the coolant temp sensor or maybe that sensor that sits in the intake pipe but as i have never had a 2.2 before any advice would be greatly received.

apart from that i am happy with it.needs one or two jobs and some tidying up on the outside but is what i wanted.hopefully get this problem sorted :clap:

forgot to ask:

if i unplug the egr valve will the car drive better until i can get the egr cheater and blanking gasket fitted?

o2 sensor usually needs about 10 miles before it re appears - the sensor is faulty but it needs to tick certain boxes before the fault is active [ so it is faulty but inactive until a certain time if that makes sense]

EGR faults tend to pop up pretty quickly however

hunting is most likey EGR related

O2 sensor 2 will do really nothing to fueling

i would wait for the codes to re appear but in the mean time get yourself a cheap code reader

do a search using the little box top right of forum and there will be links to code readers that wotk with the 2.2

btw coolant temp sensor sits in the thermostat housing rear right hand side of engine
air intake sensor is in the intake pipe between air box and throttle body
