Hi Guys

I have recently fitted the EGR cheater and blanking plate, disconnected the battey for 30mins and the light went out for about a day and has now come back on HELP !

Prior to fitting the cheater and plate the car had a new oil filter, oil, fuel filter, air filter and genuine GM plugs, coil pack to help the 1500 - 2000 rpm problem.

Any ideas what might cause the light to reappear ?

could be the lambda sensor mines always throwing the eml up for that

Have you had a code reader on it to see if it's giving any specific fault codes?

Was the light coming on before removing the egr valve and fitting the egr cheater and blanking plate?
Try pluging the old valve back in, if still servicable? leave the blanking plate alone. Does the light go out?

The light was coming on and showed egr codes

Just had the ECU read, no egr codes shown had this code instead:-

PO171 - Fuel trim system leane

Any ideas ?

front lambda sensor

check for air leaks first in and around inlet manifold

you getting any hesitation or misfire on acceleration at low revs ?

I am getting hesitation at low rev under 2500, it was helped alot when blanking off the EGR.

Maybe I had 2 faults at the same time !

How is it best to check the inlet for leaks ?

On the reader on the Air Fuel ratio on tick over both SNS1 AND SNS2 were reading lean, when revs held up around 2500 they changed state.

sounds like it could be your front lambda faulty

get some carb cleaner and spray it around the inlet manifold - if the revs increase then u know u got a leak

the sound from the PAS pump on the inlet cam can be mistaken for air leaks

Ill try some carb cleaner tomorrow round the inlet manifold for leaks,

Is the front lambda the sensor the one you can see from the top of the engine bay by the manifold heat shield ?

Hi Guys

I have sprayed carb cleaner all over the inlet, I found the when carb cleaner was sprayed over the EGR pipe clip brass clip on the end of the ali pipe on the throttle body side of the car it almost cut out.

I removed the pipe couldn't see any breaks sealed it and push back in and secured clip.

Any one else had probs with this ?
