Well, picked up a z22se vectra cdx the other week and have finally got around to stripping the engine. Seems theres good and bad bits! Car had had a new chain kit at 76k (now 126k) but the oil jet wasn't changed...but no great shakes. The balance shaft side of things however was a different story. Chain had snapped and the 2 balance shaft sprockets are really well worn away. The head was warped by 0.5mm and this explained why 2,3 & 4 cylinders were sucking water in!! But this has been skimmed now. No bent valves (phew!!). Am just wondering what to do with it now having found out that the Vx cam chain kit prices have gone through the roof. Last one i bought cost me £120inc....now it's £185inc!!!!!! Ok on Ebay they're about £110 all in...but never been a fan using cheaper parts on such important bits. Have got a spare bottom end i could take the bits from....or i could just break it and make a bit of dosh that way as it's totally spec'd out. Time for some serious thought methinks notsure.gif
