Sorry if this is in the wrong section but wasnt to sure where it belonged.
i have a 2006 (51k) vectra 2.2 direct elite (z22yh) and Vx thought that the chain had snapped. I have had it in to see a Pro (not VX) and the fault is the Bolt that holds the guide rail retainer was loose and has been moving causing the timing to go to crap and now that it has been left for a while the hole is to big for the bolt. i took it in to VX as the timing was awful giving me crazy kangarooing effect and they told me it needed a software uodate.... i paid them, they did it, it didnt fix it.
Result is it needs a new head. Anyone ever had this hapen to them before? I have been told that the head MAY be repairable and i have been given a price of £200 IF a repair is possible plus a set of valves (£140)
Anyone know where i can get a new (recon) head for this engine for cheaper than the repair? or if it cant be repaired Vx want 700 plus vat for a recon.
