anybody gone from a Vec B Sri 150 to a Vec B DTi SRi 130?

Hi

right i've pretty much decided to change cars AGAIN!! :roll: I only got the SRi 150 in Oct & had planned on keeping it a lot longer, basically until i could save for another Evo or similar!!

Now that we're def moving house i've decided to go for a diesel to cut down on running costs as i'm gonna be quite a bit further away from work. I really like my SRi 150, well, i like everything apart from the front end which could be improved with a better front bumper!! 😃

I've looked at other diesels for the same price as a 2.2 DTi SRi 130 & there's nothing else that interests me. I looked at Pugs as my Mrs has a 206 HDi which isn't bad but i'd rather not get the same car. Other options are 306 HDi but they're also only 90bhp & slower than the 206!!

Anyways. Has anybody had a Vec B 2.2 DTi SRi 130 & if so how does it compare to the 2.2 SRi 150? they look the same & interior is the same etc just want to know how they drive etc in comparison!! :thumbup:

the sri130 diesel is slow and noisey

lol!! yeh well i pretty much thought it'd be slower & def a bit noisier!! is it a lot slower? like really bad??

On the Parkers link above it shows only 44 MPG?! Assuming its an average, I get 34 mpg with non motorway driving and more with motorway driving from a petrol 2.2. Also you wont save much on Tax with 170 g/km

I suppose it all depends how careful you drive. But must admit its nice to have that bit extra for when you want to have fun!!

Well i seem to be a bit like "driving miss daisy" lately!! trying to screw as much mpg out of the car as possible to save on cash for the house move!! :thumbup:

right well i've worked out some rough figures with mileage I do. I'd only save £5 per wk living where I am now. Which obviously once we've moved houe which is further away, but not by loads then I won't save much more!!

so doesn't seem really worth it. i know everything is fine with my Vectra so not worth taking the risk buying another car that isn't gonna save me that much on fuel!!Unless I buy something else kinda sporty that has same running costs of the SRi 150!! I've kinda got it into my head now i want another car. I also really don't like the front end of the Vec B!! Looks really dated now!! :thumbdown:

you be surprised how much u save - not a lot in my book

u drive a diesel like a petrol and watch the fuel go

you save money on road tax but the price of diesel per litre is higher - u go figure lol

imo if you want to save money from fuel costs then simply change your driving habits -ie dont drive as much

I remember the days when petrol & diesel were less that 50p a litre! Also diesel was a lot cheaper than petrol! Id like to know exactly how much of the tax on fuel actually does go on improving the roads etc!

I already take it as steady as possible most of the time & with my shifts I need to use a car. I work 6am-6pm & 6pm-6am continental shifts. I live in Barnsley & work in Wakefield & there isn't a bus that goes near my house that gets me into work for 6am. Same on the way home after night shift finishing at 6am. I'd have to get 2 buses & wouldn't get home till after 7am. Whereas it takes me 20mins taking it steady in the car!!

doesn't take a genius to work out why diesel is more expensive than petrol when road tax on some diesel cars is peanuts

diesel cost less to refine and is a dirtier and cloudier fuel yet it is more taxed than petrol

put it another way

you have to spend 5000 pound on fuel every year - over 10 quid a day] to see less than a pound return a dayfrom using a diesel over petrol

so we talking a few hundred quid a year tops

want a cheap car then go buy a 1 litre corsa or ford ka and get around 50mpg

my 1.6 vectra does around 47mpg on the motorway

I couldn't cope with a tiny engine!! When i sold my 363bhp Evo 5 3yrs ago I bought a Fiesta 1.25 zetec which have about 75bhp cos i wanted the cash out of the Evo to put towards buying the house we have now!! :thumbdown: Fiesta lasted about 6 months then I bought a Puma 1.7 zetec!! which lasted just under 1yr then I bought my GTV 3.0 V6!! Then decided I needed to cut back on running costs again so we could moce house AGAIN!! lol!!

That lead me to the SRi 150 & now possibly a DTi SRi 130!! :roll: Going to look at 1 tomorrow!! Doesn't seem a bad price so once i've sold the 150 it should cover the DTi SRi purhcase!!

what's wrong with fiesta 1.25 zetecs? my mk5 looked 10 times better than a nova, they're reliable, interior was better, car is newer & as for "eating them up for breakfast!!" i can't imagine there being that much difference!!

1 car i'm glad i can say i never owned is a Nova cos I think they're awful!! 😃

lol yeah fiesta's do look nicer than novas but i would still choose a nova. An old friend of mine had a 1.2 nova with some ITB's, exhaust and a few other tweaks and that was rapid! Had a standard 1.8 mk2 astra at the time and it would give that a good run for its money 😃

no way!! just couldn't pick a nova over a fiesta!! I thought nova gsi & sr were ok like 20yrs ago!! Same as a lot of cars though. I liked them then but wouldn't have 1 now! I was offered a cav gsi2000 4x4 a while ago, i reeeeeeally liked them years ago when they weren't that old but now!! no chance!!

When I sold my Evo V 3yrs ago i said i'd have another eventually!! Was gonna start looking this yr until we decided we were gonna move house again!! :roll: I've looked at a couple of V's & tbh i'm starting to think they look dated, same as classic shape scooby!! Always wanted a P1 or STi Type R version 5 or 6 but again i've decided i'd rather have something newer!! 😃

tbh i don't even really like the looks of the Vectra B from the front. Only bought my SRi 150 cos of the price & it was an easy buy/fix. Same goes for the DTi SRi 130 i'm looking at this aft. It's gonna be a gap car. Already looking into irmscher grills & GSi front bumpers etc to make it more bareable!! :thumbup:

Quick update!!

bought a 2001 51 reg Vectra 2.2 DTi SRi 130 estate this aft!! Def feels slower than the 2.2 SRi 150 but still pulls well enough for what I want it for!! :thumbup:

So my 2002 51 reg 2.2 SRi 150 will be going up for sale soon!! 😃

Well I sold the SRi 150! got £800 for it froim a neighbour across the street!!

As for my 2.2DTi SRi 130!

well..................... i'm gonna be putting it up for sale in the next couple of weeks!!

There's nothing up with the car, well, apart from a stubborn glow plug that doesn't wan to come out of the head!! it runs fine on 3 so not really an issue. On really cold mornings i've just had to turn the ignition on & off a couple of times to heat the 3 plugs up more!! even if I don't though it's only takes about 10secs to start!!

The reason why i'm selling it is because a guy I know is selling a 2004 Vec C 3.0 V6 CDTi SRi for a seriously good price & I just can't say no!! :roll: 😃

I do prefer the look of it to mine, it's also a hatchback which i prefer, has less than half the mileage, bit more oomph under the bonnet & is 3yrs newer!! i'm dipping nto my house move savings but hopefully I should het near what i paid for the Vec B S.2 DTi SRi & I pretty much made £800 profit with my 2.2 SRi 150!! :thumbup:

Going to look at it tomorrow & taking some cash just in case! :wink:

Another update!! lol!!

after my Mrs drove the DTi SRi yesterday for the 1st time she's decided she'd rather have that than her 206 2.0 DHi D Turbo!! She says as much as the Pug feels a bit more nippy & sporty to drive she prefered the Vectra to drive as it elt more solid! She also liked it being an estate as she took the dogs out with her as well as did the shopping in it!!

So it looks like she's having that if I buy the Vec C then we'll sell her 206! which is better for us really as the 206 is worth more cash!! :thumbup:

The 3.0V6 Vectra is a very good car! Shit loads of torque
