bought a astra titan gold coupe engine cam chain has gone looking at best meathod maybe go down a replacment route or total ripout and insert 2.0 or even 1.8 complete with ecu?

The trouble with chains snapping is that your don't know the full damage until you start stripping it down, i would replace the chain as the 2.2 is one of the best engines made.

If you fit a 2.0 or 1.8 lump you may need a complete wiring harness as they could be different.

and the 2.0 engine was discontinued in 2000 meaning it is very rare to find a decent one

the 1.8 engine is very boring imo - horrible underpowered lump that is near enough same weight as 2.0 but 20 bhp less

hi cheers guys i was told the chain was done but obviously it wasent what usualy happens when chains go (ie damage)

it will be cheaper to fix the 2.2 than fit another size engine and box
