blue_se2 My dad's thinking of selling his laptop on ebay he has removed everything off it and done a system restore to factory settings but will people still be able to get information off it?? is he best just to destroy it??
MikeS yeh i can recover data if needed but is the laptop just personal use ? worth using a purge program if you are that concerned

I have software that can scan a hdd and look at files even if the hdd has been formatted. Id say create a factory restore cd first then use a program that writes 0's & 1's (low level format) to the whole hdd. Then restore it to its factory state with the cd. This way if anyone does know how to scan it they wont be able to recover anything. Hope that helps fella
