Have been told that this head has failed a pressure test ( removed from my car after i had problems with oil in the water and loosing coolant, have now had a replacement head fitted) This head in the picture (if i have uploaded it right) was replaced only 2 years ago (under warranty) when i first purchased the car.The questions are ;is it common for them to fail where the yellow marking is? and can this be repaired ?

Thanks for replies but Dont know if to get it re-pressure tested etc as only going on what the garage has told me,but if it is damaged at the yellow marks is it repairable ???

Hmmm.....the prob you'll have fixing it is a: it will be hard to get a tig under the webs. b: there is a real risk of warping due to the heat required and finally if the tig is set to too much penetration, it may simply blow through into the water gallery. Sooo...to sum it up....sell me your valves 😃

Just a thought...RS do crack detector kits...simple to use and least you'll know for sure.

who is RS re the detector kits?
I am thinking of keeping the head in the boot if repairable so i've got a running spare when it breaks down again lol
bloody cars cost me a fortune in the past 2 years

Hmm...we haven't bought this for a few years lol...and the price has shot up!!! Last set we got was just over a tenner!!!

Its basically just a cleaner, a can of very penetrating red dye and a can of developer (sort of spray on white talc) so you may be able to make your own somehow.
