simply remove plug number one (next to chain), use a very long screwdriver and then turn the engine until it's at top dead centre (screwdriver height peaks), then ensure the cam sprockets look like the pic below
don't worry about the coloured links it's the position of the two holes in the middle of the pic, they should be roughly aligned with the head casting (pic is slightly out due to crank not being exactly at top dead centre)
