loosing water

im loosing water but am now a bit stumped.
ive checked all water connections and they seem ok.nothing appears to be coming into the car as if it was the heater and the oil looks fine, with no white streaks or anything.

any ideas?? as it is obviously going somewhere!!

Have you checked your bottom hose on the rad. Run the car upto temp to pressurise the system and then check round whilst the engine is running.

May be worth getting underneath and checking the waterpump plug on the bottom of the pump??

You could also check the dreaded #4 IIRC plug. Remove the coil pack, don't remove any plugs, but have a look down the plug hole with a torch for any signs of water?

also reach down the back of the engine and feel under the water pump as they do tend to leak !

how much water you losing ?

well if you look at the header tank and look at the mac (cold) line i filled it the other day and now its gone down over 1/2".
when i first noticed it was when a warning came up on the dash

Could be just an air lock that you had has now passed? Refill and monitor it for a while.

it was when i looked a couple of days ago, then i re filled it.
its lost 1/2" since then.

what plug is that then?

Is the system pressurised?
Check the sparkplug chambers for water?
I would check #1 & #4

no sparkplugs, same suggestion as johnny but I am saying both #1 & #4

oic what you mean now! but how would water get into the chambers where the plugs are?

water gallerys are close
cracked head
common with alloy heads and even more common on this engine cos of water gallery is close

I found it was usually a pin hole in the rad on my old vec B's

i go with leaking water pump if it is leaking

Get it to a garage and get them to pressure test the system......if you were more local i would say bring it to me...
