Snow = fault lights

Hi guys,

Just another quick question regarding me 04' vectra C 2.2 Direct, driving to work this morning and every thing is fine. I get to me work car park and its very thick in snow so was wheel spinning everywhere and I still didn't find a space, so was wheel spinning and sliding again just to get back out 😛. As I was leaving, i got stuck in a thick patch of snow and had to give it a bit to get out but as i did, my ABS Sensor and Traction Control light popped up and staying lit :twisted:
I turned the engine off and on again and they still there!!
Im thinking (and hoping) that i my wheels have just thrown dirty snow all over one of the sensors, but is there anything the wheel spinning could of done. Anything worth trying or shall i just wait for the snow to melt off?

Have you driven the car any distance since switching the engine off? I know that after my car has been on the rolling road the warning lights are on for a while until the system realises that all 4 wheels are back in motion. If the system only sees 2 wheels moving then the warning lights come on.

Someone i know had the same problem. All he did 1 afternoon was to drive down an empty industrial estate and then slam the brakes on so the abs kicked in. The light disappeared after this

JohnnyN, na, when i found somewhere to park I just turned the engine off and on again so didn't move it, i guess if that is the case, then on the way home it should just correct itself (i hope). If not, Ill try astra's idea of slammin on the brakes, but in this weather I don't know if thats so wise :razz:

find a nice big empty open car park or something.

This has happened to me twice on my Astra a few miles of non spinning wheels and it cleared.

this astra is sliding around so much - much more than the vec

scaring the hell out of me watching the back end in front of me going around corners

yep, all sorted, as soon as I managed to get out of the car park the lights went off within seconds of normal driving. . .

the exact same thing happened to my astra, it took a day or so for the fault to clear but i had put this down to the fact that the wheels were spinning and the rear calipers were still frozen causing the the ABS and traction control light to come on.
When them lights were on the traction control never worked and neither did the ABS. Scary times i tell ya :lol:
