Tailgate struts for Vectra B

Hi folks,

I have a Vectra B 5 door with an Irmsher spoiler on the tailgate. The tailgate gas struts which were supplied with the spoiler are now failing and need to be replaced. The standard ones do not cope with the extra weight of the spoiler so where can I obtain suitable struts ? Would the ones off an estate or any particular other vehicle do ?

You will have to have the proper uprated gas struts. These are available from Vx main dealer. The so called replacement struts from other suppliers are not upto the job. LMF sell uprated struts but they do not lift the tailgate as the original irmscher struts do. The struts from an estate won't fit. If you are looking to source 2nd hand then you will need to get them from a car that also has a tailgate.

My struts went a few years back and I bought the uprated struts from LMF and they were useless. The boot just wouldn't lift and I had to assist it. Once up it would stay but it wouldn't lift itself. I then managed to get some more pattern uprated struts. These were a bit better but still not perfect.

I had same issue with the gas struts for my veccy b. I bought some from on here from the facelift version which worked a treat! They were the irmscher ones thou.

Dont bother trying to find any others. I did and found it a waste of time! I found the corsa C one were the same in length but just not man enough for the job! So as above get the irmscher ones
