hi everyone im new to the board, and relatively new to diy mechanics so please bear with me.
i have recently fitted a new cam chain kit to my 2.2 astra sri.
i have lined up all marks on sprokets with coloured chain links, put new guides in and tensioner and new oil jet.
i have then fitted the cam cover and top cover along with the coil pack. then checked oil.
i then tried to start the car, but the battery is not very good so it didnt really start but i could still hear it to tell it didnt sound quite right, still sounds a bit rough, and because the air intake box is not fitted, i was able to see that there was smoke coming out of it, so i didnt try it again, it also smelt of petrol.
now correct me if im wrong but shouldnt that suck air and not blow. i dont know whats wrong with it.
do the cam lobes need to be in a certain position when the top sprokets are connected and lined up with the marks on the chain, does anyone know.
please help.
