Johnny, if you were giving them some hammer, the brake fluid in the pipes will have got very hot, which will have cuased the pedal to go soft, I had the exact same in my old 106. You could smell the brakes through the air vents they had got that hot.
Once you have the new hoses on, that should stop that from happening
