Hey Guys,
so recently purchased my Vectra B SRi 150, i knew it had the EML, had intermittent power loss when puting a little pressure on gas, but i got it fairly cheap so i bought it.
my cousin has diagnostic reader & mechanical know how, so proceeded to dismantle my TB and then clean it out, as it wouldnt open halfway before he cleaned it but now it looks like now and solved my intermittent power loss, he then plugged it in and read the codes.
Codes produced are PO378 Timing Reference High Resolution Signal B Intermittent/Erratic Pulses & PO778 line pressure duty soleniod "B" electrical.
I know the PO378 is related the the crankshaft sensor, the car itself runs and drives fine with no problems that would be generally be associated with crank sensor failure, when viewing live maps the timing is very effatic on cylinder #1, ill be changing the crankshaft sensor anyway. could it be related to my oil leak read below
Now about the PO778? What could cause that? i believe it to be transmission related, but all my gears are fine and i thought it was an automatic trans fault? but mine is a manual, Could the fault be ghosting the PO378 fault?
only the PO378 is a stored fault.
i also got my cousing to have a scout round the engine to look for problems that i would have missed myself, i have no experience mechanically wise.
Now onto the oil leak, i have an oil leak from the timing end of the engine, this is leading to all the left side of the engine getting soaked in oil, aswell as the alternator, is this a common problem? if so what gasket / seal is normally at fault so my cousin can replace this for me, as im loosing a substantial amount of oil through this. what part numbers are required, so can easily source the parts.
Also, theres a gas leak from the exhaust manifold at the rear of the engine bay, my cousin said normally the exhaust manifold gasket warps, hes seen a few warped gaskets. is this a fault on the z22se, or is it more the manifold that warps and misshapes? i just need to know mostly what common problem would be, me and my cousin is short on time and doesnt really have time to take it apart to have a look them buy parts.
Brake fluid servo plastic has warped and plastic bubbled... This shouldnt cause a problem my cousin said. but has anyone ever experienced this and if so why? just so can prevent it getting worse.
Last bit of a problem, well not so much of a problem but a nuisance, is when my cousin cleaned out the TB for me, he noticed quite a fair bit of oily residue in the bottom of the inlet manifold. this obviously isnt a good thing. any ideas what could be the cause or could this be related to the oil leak ?
Thanks for reading the thread and hopefully someone can come up with some solutions so i can get the car back in prime condition.
Cheers
