Is the z22se still in production?

As above really.

I have been looking around for a nice SRi 2.2

Someone told me yesterday I would be better off going for the 1.8 cause the 2.2 is no longer in production so parts will be harder and more expensive to get.

Is this true? What engine do you think is best?

as for parts there are thousands about and very easy to get hold of.

and as for which is the best i would go for the 2.2 everytime.

my brother used to have a 1.8 sri,he drove my 2.2 and he sold the 1.8 to get a 2.2 so what does that tell you 😃

Hi. Sorry to say the VX220 ceased production last year. The Z22SE and variants are used all across General Motors though. I know the 2l Saab turbo uses the same block (and i think cylinder head), and the new Alfa 2.2 JTS uses the same block (but a different head).

Parts will be available for a very long time to come - plus VX220s get written off almost every day so there'll be a steady supply of engines 😃

There's talk of a 2.2 Astra H coming to Australia on OpelAus.
