Vec B 2.2 MPG???

Hey,

I know MPG varies depending on how you drive it, but I've never tried to work out the MPG of my Vec B, filled up tonight and zeroed the clock....

I read somewhere that they are rated at 33 MPG.

Does that sound right with everyone??

if you live in a busy city expect sub 25 mpg

if you do a lot of 60 mph + driving then expect 32 mpg

you do a lot of motorway driving expect around 40 mpg

ya i do about 90 miles aday and can get 40mpg going steady eddie
but rush hour is a killer low to mid 20s :o

Thanks for your replies.

I'm amazed at the difference driving styles can have on fuel consumtion :shock: , and I'm still performing my own 'grandad style' driving test , cruising along at 55 ish 2400 rpm along country roads.
Done around half a tank so far, and I'll post up my results when I've filled up next. :geek:

Looking forward to my next tank full, and driving 'normally' again!! :wink:

If it makes enough difference, I'll change my driving style for good, but I do normally drive a bit more sensibly over winter anyway.

Even been considering a 1.7 turbo deiseal, with tax and fuel costs I think it could save me £1000 a year!!

Thankfully I miss 'rush hour' traffic, as I'm working at a out of town industrial estate, and live in the country, so country roads 95% of the time for me cheers..

So, filled up today, and these are my results. please correct me if I'm wrong!

I have done 298 miles since last top up, and today put 42.3 litres in at a cost of £49.05

So 49.05 / 298 = - £0.16 per mile

My 40 mile round trip costs £6.40 a day....= £32.00 a week

There are 0.219969 liters in a UK gallon, and I used 49 liters which is 10.7784 gallons.
So I used 10.8 gallons for 298 miles.

So, 298 miles / 10.8 = 27.50 mpg ??

So my mpg is 27.5 :shock: :wtf: :crazy: .... Is that right??

Next to find out what my mpg is for my normal 'spirited' driving, to see if the grandad style is worth the saving.

27.5 mpg sounds pretty dreadfull IMHO, my American V8 gets better fuel economy!! I might use the Pontiac daily to reduce my fuel bills lol!! :lol:

So, filled up again today after my 'spirited' driving week, and these are my results. please correct me if I'm wrong!

I have done 236 miles since last top up, and today put 36 litres in at a cost of £42.00

So 42.00 / 236 = - £0.17 per mile, only 1p per mile more ! Foot to the floor for me mes thinks!

And I think the fuel price went up since I last filled up, ruining my cals for my true mpg costs lol!!

Regardless, it's now enough for me to decide the 2.2 is too thirsty for a dd doing 10k miles a year, a 1.7 TDI could easy save me £1200 a year on fuel alone, okay so it wouldn't be as fun, but if I keep it for 4 years, £4800 could be mine in savings alone.....
