newbie with coolant loss

Hi all, newbie here.

I bought a 2003 vectra c sri 2.2 about 4 weeks ago. about a week after i bought it the coolant light came on the dash so i checked and topped it up but then about a week later, same again, light comes on :shock: . Ive had to top it up 3 or 4 times since i bought it. I cant find a coolant leak anywhere at all. The engine oil is clean and there doesnt seem to be any oil in the coolant. The heaters work fine and the temp gauge is normal notsure.gif

Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Have you checked the spark plug holes :idea:

yeah ive checkd the plugs for any sign of water or cracks and it seems ok. Im now thinking it must be the water pump leaking into the timing chain housing, meaning it will be filling up with coolant hence the reason for not being able to find the leak, i think!?

It could also be where the overflow pipe connects to the head on the left hand side from the reservoir. I noticed on my car that there was no jubilee clip and it was leaking out there and as the head gets hot it evaporates water hence not being able to find the leak.

Just an idea based on past experiences hope it helps
