i registered on here a few days ago to try get a bit of advice/info on a vectra i was thinking about buying that has a few small issues!
Well i've been & had a good look around it today & i've decided to buy it. It's a 2002 51reg 5dr hatch in dark green. Just over 100k on the clock, pretty much full s/history with timing chain etc being done last yr. MOT'd until April. Tax runs out at the end of this month but that doesn't matter as i won't be actually getting the car on the road straight away. I won't even be getting it until the end of the month anyways as i go on holiday tomorrow for 2wks!! 😃
Body work & interior wise it looks in good shape. No bad scratches or dings etc anywhere & looks generally straight!! The faults that i know of so far are
1) transponder chip in key lost, which is what prompted my mate to flog the car cos he couldn't be bothered sorting it out as he'd already been thinking of getting a cheaper to run car
2) crank shaft pulley seal leaking
3) reverse light switch faulty
4) passenger side front window comes off runners when window lowered
5) air con pipe snapped
Other than that it is due a service!! shouldnt cost me a great deal to get all this sorted. Be a nice little project for me when i get back from my hols. Not exactly sure what i'll do with it once it's been sorted. I have currently been thinking of selling my 2002 Alfa GTV V6 to get a cheap runabout, but i had buying diesel in my head as i only get about 25mpg from the GTV & was wanting something that did closer to 50mpg to cut my fuel bill in half as the village we want to move house to next year is further away from my work so a cheap diesel would be ideal then i'd buy a toy for my days off etc!! preferably another Evo like what i used to have a couple of years ago :twisted:
