Well after some more Q+A with a diagnostic expert the next step is to check cam timing.

Anyone recommended in the South East Essex, SS17 postal area???

Unfortunately I'm on one of those zero hour contracts.

Im not able to take time off until January at the earliest.

I would like a reputable mechanic to firstly check cam timing and chain then decide if replacement is needed.

You can check the chain by removing the cam cover
And try to push the chain as it should be quite firm
