I have recently had a cam chain kit change and all my inlet valves and 2 outlet valves as the chain tensioner gave up and the chain slipped a few teeth.
Since having this work done i am now losing oil and it appears to be burning as the car smokes on start up and under heavy acceleration. My mechanic has assured me that the valve guides are ok and that he changed the stem seals when he changed the valves. There isn't any oil in the water, and there isn't any sign of a leak anywhere.
I am guessing that the problem is with the piston rings but wouldn't know for definate. I have read somewhere that you can get a crack in the cylinder but wouldn't know how to rule this out.
Any suggestions on how to diagnose the problem would be very much appreicated. :?
