What Method of tuning does Regal use?

As per the title, does anyone know what method of tuning Regal use for forced induction applications as the term tunning covers so much from the old style replacement chips to full stand alone systems.

My money is on ether a piggyback ecu or (more likely) a live re-map on a rolling road. But what I cannot figure out is how they flash the E15 ecu with the new map, is it through emulation?

The other lead I had was with SCT perfomance http://www.sctflash.com/showallproducts.php who happen to provide the re-flash part of the Hanns turbo kit for the L61/Z22SE engine. Can't find much info on the ECU's in the american cars other than it might be the E16 but I do not know how closley related (if at all) they are so most likly is another dead end.

I heard that Midpoint racing ran a engine too lean and it melted the engine, prob just a one off things happen.

Still the actual method these guys use to tune remains a mystry (to me at least). I want to plan and budget realisticly, so I want to know where I stand before sourcing hardware. If I can bolt it together and take it easy down to portsmouth for a rolling road live re-map using their super duper ecm emulation method for £xxx.xx thats fine. If I am going to need a stand alone it changes thing's..alot.

I have sent them a email asking for general info, but its the weekend so they will likely get back to me next week, even so they may not want to go into details about how they achieve the fueling for forced induction (other than a 2-bar maf sensor).

Why dont you get a Z20net and a standalone ecu?

I heard from the states that bigger injectors and a 2Bar map sensor work quite well with the standard map.

you need to be careful when mapping a turbo, an A/F gauge is the bare minimum before you consider to drive it

If the managemant issue is too great to overcome than yes that may be the next thing but I dont know much about standalone dunno.. and would of liked to left that side of things to a expert using the exsiting management.

As Vocky mentioned there are methods that have yielded good results. Our american cousins have really gone to town in most areas of the ecotec, and as ever the devil would be in the detail of the conversion.

Ah, sorry I see what you mean, If I had a turbo engine bolted together and needed to take it some where for a re-map. Yes, this in it self would prove to be a issue.

Off the top of my head and most likley wrong but if it was bolted together as it should could it be run with the wastgate bov forced open to the extent only atmosphere psi (approx) is allowed. If this was possible and at present it was only a brain £art I just had, would it run like a dog but get you to a tuner (if you took it carefull?)
