Hello, timing chain and other questions

Hi all, I just bought a 2001 opel zafira 2.2 and I'm dead chuffed with it. This is my first vaux for 10years, I last had a nova 2.0 8v 🙂
It's an elegance, got funky blue heated seats, cruise, done 67k miles, part service history but genuine mileage.

I'm a bit concerned about all the snapped timing chain stories. Is it advisable to service the tensioner or unblock oil ways to prevent premature failure? I have looked around the forum and googled but haven't found the answer.

It also has quite a tight notchy gearbox but read that could just be a worn linkage.

The temp gauge doesnt get up to half way on a run, is that normal or should I be looking for a new thermostat?

I would recommend replacing the timing chain kit, being 9 years old the guides get brittle :thumbdown:

all belt driven vauxhall engines have a 4 year / 40k 'whichever is sooner' repalcement, so perhaps the z22se should really have a 8 year / 80k change dunno..
