water pump location on z22se

Hi All

Can anyone tell me where the water pump is located on a vectra B z22se?

I have a small fluid leak that is coming from a square box mounted on the block under the brake resovouir next to the exhaust manifold, is this the water pump?

I think i must have nocked it putting the head back on

follow the air con pipes around the back of the head and you will see a bracket attached to the head holding the air con pipes in place, look directly below that and you will see cylindrical type object with a metal pipe going into it - that is the water pump - very common problem for leaks & a pain in the ass to replace

oh dear... thanks for that. Just looked and it looks a pain to do. hopefully I've just nocked the pipe, i think I moved it when moving the engine around refitting the head. hopefully i can just nip it up or put some radweld in.

make sure the engine is cold and just put your hand down there and under the water pump

if you get any oil on ya hands and it is only leaking from underneath then it is the seal and it is a water pump off job

No Oil, just water dripping. I'm not sure if iv'e nocked it. only started leaking when I was putting the timing cover on. I had to move a pipe to get access to one of the bolt holes and had to drop the engine a little off it's mounts

Had my hands down there but theres no oil at all.

release the pressure in your cooling system to see if it makes any difference
'undo coolant expansion tank cap' when engine is cold !

I have and it seems ok. strange thing is that the cooling system was all but empty! it took nearly 4ltrs of coolant.

It was meant to be empty by the way! I had the head off 😃

will just have to see how it goes, I'm more worried about the crap coming out of the back! and how long it's going to take to see if iv'e fixed it burning oil, seems as bad as ever.

I just dropped the coolant out of the top half, (the pipe going into thermostat) as I couldn't
get to the bottom hose off the rad easily. haven't flushed it as I couldn't get to the rad hose, just refilled with good coolant.

On my astra there is a red knob at the bottom of the radiator drivers side, which opens and lets most of the water out. I didnt need to take a pipe off. Not sure if the vectra/zafira is the same thou

I didn't see one, haynes told me to take the lower pipe off (yeah right, need arms like spagetti)

Have it all filled up now with nice pink coolant. can't see the leak any more, not loosing water but the car isn't running as it has no tax~! and the battery keeps going flat

Ive just taken a picture of mine which ill upload tonight. At least people will see what it should look like and also if you need to change your coolant next time.

Here is the coolant release on my astra coupe (The RED Knob). Not sure if the Vectra/Zafira has one too thou.

Nup 🙁

but more pressing issues at the moment, water pump has stopped dripping though 😃

at least something on the car works
