Hi, im new to the site. I have recently purchased a Vectra 2.2 51plate estate with 28000miles on the clock from new, with full dealer service history. Had a few teething problems at first wheel ballance issue 70 to 75 mph, knocking from drivers side, lumpy idle etc. given the problems the car runs realy well. I have fully serviced the car replaced most of the front suspension items to eliminate the knock but unfourtunatley found that the lower steering uj joint was the culprit, now packed with grease and knocking has 99% gone. Replaced all tyres with Michelin Primacy and the vibration has gone. The lumpy idle is still apparent but much better with the egr blanked off. All oil fliters changed etc.
Researching the web have found various sites offering problem solving issues relating to the vectra 2.2 and have used the above to fix my problems.
Now for the timing chain mine seems ok very quiet in operation, i have spoken with vx who in turn have advised my engine number falls into the modified oil jet being fitted at factory?
The only real issue i have with the car at present is the lumpy idle, it feels as though the car misses. I have checked all hoses for vacuum leaks, cleaned the throttle housing best i can, not alot of carbon build up as with the egr realy clean. If you turn on the aircon the idle raises to around 900rpm and idles smooth with to lumpy feel. Any ideas to solve this small problem.
