Astra 2.2 Sri Rear Coil Spring replacement

My car failed the MOT today as one of the rear springs has broken.

Dealer wants £170 + VAT (for 2) and Euro Car Parts want £50 + VAT.

Firstly is it as easy as removing the wheel pressing down the trailing arm and pulling the spring out, will I need to compress?

Also the ECP ones are for the SRi which I believe are slightly lower and stiffer than the standard Astra springs, is there a better place to buy them?

I'm more than happy with the ride height so don't really want to lower it.

you could try Autovaux or LMF Vauxhall for spares

You might need to compress slightly so it makes it easy to get them out, do one side at a time though

The rear springs on the astra are a peice of cake to change....

Per side

Jack car up
Remove wheel
Remove shock top mounting bolt
Lever down rear beam and remove old spring
Remove top spring seat from spring(Can be quite tight to remove so a bit of lube helps)
Refit to new spring
Lever down rear beam and fit new spring
Refit top shock bolt
Refit wheel

And repeat for other side

maybe mike can help with that,,,,they wont be cheap from vaux tho...
